Facundo put together one of the most impressive high school careers in MHSAA history, becoming just the 28th four-time state champion in state history. Facundo was ranked first in the country from preseason through the postseason, as well as coming in at #2 in Matscout's Pound for Pound rankings. He also joins exclusive company, becoming just the second four-time Michigan Grappler Dream Team first teamer (Taylor Massa).
Facundo has participated in and won nearly every major tournament throughout his high school career, including the Grappler Fall Classic, Fargo, Super 32s, and making Cadet and Junior world teams.
During the shortened season, Facundo was dominant with a 27-0 record, including 15 falls and 7 tech falls. He pinned and teched his way through districts, regionals, and the state tournament. Facundo capped off his career by leading Davison to their first team state championship since 2006. Happy Valley is the next destination as Facundo has signed with Penn State for his college career.

2021 was a unique season, to say the least. For months, it looked like there may not be a season at all. When the wrestling season was finally given the green light, there were mask mandates, testing requirements, cancellations, quarantines, etc. The fact that the season was completed at all is a huge testament to all of the outstanding coaches in the MHSAA. That said, Coach of the Year honors go to all of the coaches across the MHSAA, as everyone played an important role in making sure we could have a wrestling season.

Gates was dominant all season on his way to winning his first state title. He went a perfect 26-0 on the season with 12 pins. Before entering high school, Gates was a middle school GFC champ. He was also 6th in the Elite division at the GFC this past Fall. Gates ended the season ranked 14th nationally.
Haynes won his second state title and made it to the dream team for the second consecutive season for the Titans. Haynes will be attending the University of Virginia in college.
The 4x state placer won his first state championship as a Senior after finishing as runner-up in his Junior campaign. Shrader finished the season a perfect 33-0 with 19 pins. He will join Central Michigan in the Fall.
Barr makes his second dream team in his young career after winning another state championship. Barr had a busy offseason, which included winning the Grappler Fall Classic. Barr finished his Sophomore year with a 29-0 record, and he only had three matches that did not end in bonus points.
Jenkins put together a very memorable postseason, pinning his way through districts, regionals, and the state championships. Jenkins finished the season a perfect 39-0 with an impressive 33 falls.
Now a 2x state champ, Davis put together a spectacular season, ending the season ranked 7th in the country. In the preseason, he won the GFC at 105lbs and runner-up at Super 32s at 106lbs. Davis was 29-0 on the season with every match ending by pin or tech.
Ferretti put together an outstanding season, winning his third consecutive state championship. In his Senior season, Ferretti finished a perfect 33-0 on his way to his first dream team. He will travel to Annapolis to wrestle for Navy next season.
Swiderski continued his outstanding high school career by winning his third consecutive state championship. He won the Grappler Fall Classic, picking up a big nationally-ranked win in the finals. Swiderski ends the season ranked 14th in the country. Swiderski also finished 4th at Super 32s. He has already announced his commitment to Iowa State after his Senior season.
Lee added an individual state championship to go with his 4 team state championships at Lowell. Lee finished the season with a 24-1 record. The 3x state placer will continue his career in East Lansing as a Spartan.
Roy capped off his high school career by becoming the first state champ for Jackson High since 1975. Roy was 31-0 on the year with 17 pins. He had 7 falls in the postseason alone, while going unscored upon in the other 4 matches.
Horwath repeated as state champ for Davison and makes his second first team. He went 27-0 on the season and won the the Grappler Fall Classic in convincing fashion, as well as bringing home a belt at Super 32s at 113lbs. Horwath ended the season ranked 10th in the country.
Gilcher won his second state championship for the Shamrocks and makes his first dream team. He finished 4th at the Grappler Fall Classic and finished the season top-20 in the country.
Gonzales makes his first dream team after repeating as state champ in D2. He went 21-0 on the season and 73-0 over his last two seasons.
Buell made history by becoming only the third wrestler (Metcalf, Boone) in MHSAA history to win 4 team and 4 individual state championships. Buell finished his Senior season with a 29-0 record, beating multiple other state champions along the way. He also took 4th at the Grappler Fall Classic. Buell will continue his career at Purdue.
